President-Elect Barack Obama is in talks to appear on the cover of Cigar Aficionado.

The news reportedly isn’t sitting well with First Lady-to-be Michelle Obama, who was promised by her husband that he’d quit smoking if she gave her blessing for him to run for president. Under some pressure-filled events in the campaign–such as the town-hall debates against John McCain and whenever his teleprompter quit working–Obama was known to relapse into tobacco.

“I find cigars to be a stylish, somewhat safer alternative to cigarettes,” Obama said in a statement. “It is my hope that this interview with Cigar Aficionado might perhaps open a dialogue with Cuba. I’ve heard their cigars are quite good.

Axl Rose orders the recall of “Chinese Democracy”

November 25, 2008

If you’re a Guns ‘N’ Roses fan who’s been waiting 14 very long years for the heavy metal group to release its latest album, you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer.

That’s because the band’s latest album, Chinese Democracy, officially released through an exclusive agreement with Best Buy on Nov. 23, has been recalled.

Sources say that frontman Axl Rose, a notorious perfectionist, listened to a few of the songs on the radio, didn’t like what he heard and insisted that all copies in stores be recalled so the problems can be corrected. He also is asking all 29 customers who’ve bought the album return it for an exchange once the new album is released.

“When I heard the songs, they just didn’t sound like the versions I heard and gave my blessing on in the studio,” Rose said in a statement. “I expect perfection, and my fans respect that, so they’ll not mind waiting a little longer for this album to be released in its perfect condition.”

Rose estimates that Chinese Democracy will be re-released summer 2009.

Makeover coming to Ponderings from Pluto

November 9, 2008

In the coming weeks or so this blog will be undergoing a makeover. I prefer not to have the exact same theme and layout for each of my blogs since they frequently deal with unrelated topics.

Ordinarily, I detest dark colors (dark navy blue, black and burnt orange are among those I hate the most). But for a blog dealing with a planet that’s out in extreme darkness, it might be the ideal way to set up this blog.
