Gore appears to have the Oscar in a death grip, even after shortly winning it.
With public and scientific consensus now having more and more skepticism towards man-made global warming, many are now calling on former vice president Al Gore to return prestigious awards he won as he preached the Gospel of Global Warming.
Gore won a 2007 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for the controversial documentary An Inconvenient Truth, a 2007 Nobel Peace Prize “…for [his] efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change” and a 2009 Grammy for best spoken word album for his audiobook An Inconvenient Truth.
Roger L. Simon and Lionel Chetwynd, members of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, have publicly demanded that Gore return his Oscar while Donald Trump has said Gore should be stripped of his Nobel Peace prize.
The former vice president, who nearly won the 2000 U.S. presidential race, has been under fire lately now that the data supporting global warming has been proven to be misinterpreted and/or false. Some believe Gore, who does not have a science degree, has knowingly participated in promoting scientific falsehoods. Gore has also been very reluctant to debate any scientists who are skeptical of global warming, and he also has been very quiet over reports that his Tennessee home has a carbon footprint far more than the average home.
Recent harsh winters have further cast doubt on global warming with the U.S. East Coast facing record snowfall. Some scientists even believe the earth has been cooling since the 1980s.
Gore did hold a press conference this afternoon where he held the Grammy, Oscar and Nobel Prize awards he’s earned. Hoisting them above his hands in an apparent spoof of the late National Rifle Association president and actor Charlton Heston, Gore proclaimed: “From my COLD, DEAD HANDS!”
Gore declined Ponderings from Pluto’s request for an interview, but we presume he has no intentions of returning the hardware.
